Review: Saga, Vol 1-2

My rating: ★★★★(★)

Series: Saga, Volume 1 + 2
Adult, graphic novel, fantasy

When two soldiers from opposite sides of a never-ending galactic war fall in love, they risk everything to bring a fragile new life into a dangerous old universe.

From bestselling writer Brian K. Vaughan, Saga is the sweeping tale of one young family fighting to find their place in the worlds. Fantasy and science fiction are wed like never before in this sexy, subversive drama for adults.

My thoughts

Volume 1: ★★★★

The amount of pictures I see of this series on bookstagram is insane.
It’s only very recently that I realized I actually like reading graphic novels, so I finally made the decision to pick this one up.

To be honest, I’m not 100% sure if I like the artwork. It’s a different style from what I’ve seen in other GN, but it’s definitely not ugly, but yeah… also not my top favorite. I do like the way the two main characters look though!

The plot though? SO MUCH FUN! I really like how the plot line is going so far and I was actually surprised by the ending of this volume.

I also love the way Hazel (the baby) narrates through the issues. I’m so curious to find out more about her. Especially her loved one that she briefly mentions? Please, give me more!

Overall this was a great start! It definitely fulfilled my expectations. I was a bit scared I would end up finding it weird because of all the hype, but like I said, it’s so much fun!

Volume 2: ★★★★★

In the review of my first volume I said I didn’t really liked the artwork, or well that it was different at least. And I still think this, but it’s kind of starting to grow on me! Alana and Gwendolyn look fierce AF. Love them!

AND HELLO AWESOME PLOT LINE! I’ve been surprised multiple times by some plot twists. So much was happening in this volume! It’s so addictive! I even almost cried at one point. This is just so freaking GOOD!!!

So it’s official, I’m hooked! This is freaking addictive!
