Review: Fearless by Priscilla West

My rating: ★★★
Genre: new adult, contemporary, romance, drama
Series: Reckless #2

Blurb from Goodreads:

“What are you doing?” Jax struggled.
My heart breaking for him, I raised his bruised hand to my mouth and kissed it tenderly. “Burning away the past.”
Beaten, bruised, and broken, I made a desperate move that would change our lives forever.
Just when I thought the worst was behind us, cracks appeared, secrets surfaced, and lies unraveled.
With threats closing in from all sides and our very lives hanging in the balance, I was faced with the most difficult decision of my life.
My review:
*ARC received by author in exchange for an honest review*
Fearless picks up right where we left in Reckless. For some way, because of the cliffhanger on the ending on Reckless I had high expectations. I would be lying if I said I wasn’t slightly disappointed.
Obviously I knew this was going to be a little ‘darker’, because Riley and Jax had to mentally and physically recover from what happened at the ending of Reckless. But I didn’t liked that it changed Riley so much. She was such a badass before the ‘incident’. She was a little reckless and I liked that about her. But geez, she was so whiny in this book! I get that she was worried about Jax, but it was constantly. She always want to talk, talk, talk… The lack of intimacy in this book bothered me too. Jax and Riley were such a sexy couple in the first book and in this one they barely touched each other.
And then it got better. Riley and Jax got though their problems… and then the book was over? I wanted more, because the ending was way better than the rest of the book.
So yeah, this book gave me a lot of mixed feelings. This would have been way better if it was included in Reckless.
Basically there were a lot of little things that bothered me and that’s why it took me so long to read this. The ending was good and it made me want to give it a star more, this is why I end up with giving it 3 stars instead of two. Sorry, Priscilla…
PS: it’s also too bad the cover doesn’t match with the first book…
